Front cameras and infrared sensor help it navigate obstacles, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it cleaned baking powder near baseboards and corners. Its 2,500Pa of suction was a bit weaker than some other robots, but it was able to move quickly and was quiet. It did not mop and its cleaning pad that was removable was a challenge to attach. It also couldn't handle dirt that was dried on.
Its app is a little basic, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however its voice controls aren't intuitive or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow a previous route however, the RX3 bumbles around until it gives up.
We also had issues with the intelligent features of the device, namely its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. It was good at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away however it could easily get caught on cables, socks and carpets. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price tag and impressive performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for a smarter alternative to traditional uprights.
